Title: Silvertown Quays

Description: Silvertown Quays, on the south side of the Royal Docks and one of the largest, ongoing mixed use redevelopments in Europe, will provide over 5000 homes, and a new Aquarium for London. Jestico + Whiles is designing the first phase, comprising around 700 homes designed to set standards for the rest of the development.
At the heart of this phase will be the restored historic landmark, The Millennium Mill. Converted to provide around 250 homes this will face the north side of a major new public square. Around this will be four new blocks ranging from five to twelve stories, with a uniquely wide range of unit types and sizes designed to meet the needs and aspirations of potential occupiers.
The buildings are oriented for maximum passive solar gain and clad in highly insulated low embodied energy materials. The design will be developed to include other sustainable measures such as a CHP plant and grey water collection.
