Description: The first of a new generation of multiplex developments for Village Cinemas International in the Czech Republic, this 8 screen development seating 1900 has the capability to expand to a 12 screen format with a capacity of 2500 seats.
The external envelope provides no clue to the sculptural internal form. A pristine modernist rectilinear glass fronted box conceals the heart of an eccentric, twisting and spiralling conical shaped main entrance foyer of the multiplex and the sweeping, inclined curved planes of the cinema entrances. The movie analogy of projecting onto a white surface is reinforced by the fact that the entire interior space is ‘painted’ by coloured light.
