Description: Located on the southern side of Copenhagen Street and forming part of the regeneration of Edward Square this social housing scheme provides a mix of special needs and general needs flats of varying size as well as family housing. The project, built to accommodate the different needs of several Housing Associations, was conceived to complement and enhance the imaginative and innovative approach to the design of Edward Square to the south, a new urban park developed in close consultation with local community groups.
Two simple terrace buildings facing east-west define the edges of the site thereby allowing glimpses through to Edward Square from Copenhagen Street. A combination of westerly roof terraces to the houses and private gardens provides secure play space for children and all dwellings are constructed to high standards of energy efficiency and to lifetime homes standards.
