Description: Platts Eyot is an island in the middle of the Thames which for many years was home to a thriving boat building industry which has declined in modern times; much of the island is now disused.
The objectives for the redevelopment include the renovation of the historic buildings and provision of new built accommodation. It is proposed, along with works to existing buildings, a regeneration of the island through a largely residential redevelopment. This comprises a total of 84 new dwellings which blend into the existing character of the island.
A new bridge will provide access to the island for emergency and service vehicles as well as normal traffic.
