Description: Demonstrating the potential of small scale mixed use projects to catalyse the regeneration of inner city areas, 166 Tower Bridge Road combines sixteen flats, workplace and retail to enable a derelict and abandoned site to once more contribute to a vibrant, active, local community.
Located in a Conservation Area, the façade of the three storey warehouse forms a significant element in the streetscape and is retained whilst a new five storey steel framed structure is constructed behind. Deliberately contemporary in appearance, the new elements of the building reinforce the muscular characteristics of the restored façade.
